A 700 lot Cataloged Sale of Toys, Banks, Advertising and Country Store items, Dolls, Bears and related Children’s Items
Sale starts with almost 300 lots of Advertising and country store items including some fine and rare pieces from a Coca-Cola collection, a scarce early Thomas’ Inks embossed tin sign and an unusual porcelain Greyhound sign. Good early Steamship Co tin and porcelain sign with many others. Lots of smalls; tins, displays and a large selection of advertising figures are also in this section. Coin-ops start with Gum machines featuring several book examples from Bill Enes SILENT SALESMAN TOO, an original working Miami Digger and a fine Watling Twin Jackpot among others. Also in this part of the sale is an extremely rare pair of 1930’s Pure Oil Gas Station figural pieces; the Cottage Radio and the nearly impossible to find Cottage Birdhouse. Rounding out this section are seven signs used at San Diego’s Comicon for the unrealized Super7Seven series and an original Sci-Fi painting by noted artist Terrance Lindall for Rod Serling’s Twilight Zone Magazine.
Toys and banks start with part two of the Ceramic Bank collection we sold last fall with many scarce and book examplesincluded. An 1882 cast iron Villa bank is matched with a possibly unique porcelain version is one of many fine banks; mechanicals are topped by a superb original Dinah. A scarce boxed Tootsie Toy Speedway Set. Dozens of tin toys from a NM boxed Eberl-Topsy-Turvy-Tom to a fine Martin Rickshaw. Pressed Steel has several Cor-Cor vehicles, Buddy-“L” Industrial train with Roundhouse and the only known boxed Buddy-“L” Golfer from 1934, ex-Keats collection. There are over a dozen Gas Powered Tether and Rail cars; Dooling, McCoy, Papina and more from a CA. collection.
The final section is Dolls, Bears and Children’s items. Dolls; in Bisque, China heads, Composition and Artist dolls. Bears feature a large 28” tall C-1908 Ideal Bear, and fine American Electric eye Teddy. Children’s items include dishes, utensils books and four rare and unusual C-1875 American tin scenic lithographed trays.
